Specsavers' office at La Villiaze has undergone a multi-million pound upgrade; signalling, the company said, its long-term commitment to the island and the continued growth of its business.

This comes as Specsavers publishes its first Community Report focusing on its activities within Guernsey.

The report was launched last week when the support office opened its doors to the Lieutenant-Governor His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder, the Bailiff Sir Richard Collas, and more than 35 States deputies.

Specsavers office at La Villiaze is one of several support offices around the world and house’s the group’s award-winning creative agency, as well as wholesale and distribution, marketing, IT, finance, HR, legal, retail and professional services. Work began in April 2017 to transform the premises into a modern, open plan environment, with state-of-the-art office furniture, ergonomic seating and a new café with al fresco dining area.

Specsavers co-founder Doug Perkins, said: "This extensive refurbishment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Guernsey as a vital hub for our business operations. The island has been integral to our success for the past 34 years and this significant investment reflects the confidence we have in our business and our people.

"We are delighted with our new look - the ergonomic design gives us a modern, flexible space that improves the working environment for everybody here. It is an important development for employee wellbeing and we want to continue to invest in our workplaces to help retain and attract the very best talent."

Dame Mary Perkins added: "During the past 12 months alone, we have donated half a million pounds to various charities and good causes specifically in Guernsey, all testament to our team’s good will and hard work."

Specsavers will be opening its doors again next month [Tuesday 26 June] when it hosts a Careers Fair to showcase the diverse and unique opportunities available at La Villiaze across a wide range of business functions.
