Skinny dip success for fundraisers

Sunday 30 October 2022

Three charities have received a one thousand pound donation each, thanks to one of the Bailiwick's cheekiest fundraising events.

The second annual Skinny Dip was held at Pembroke earlier this month.

It was initially planned for Sunday 18 September, but due to the death of the Queen a decision was made to postpone it.

Despite the weather being slightly cooler on the new date of 2 October, than the planned date a few weeks earlier, 60 people still turned up, stripped off, and dived in.

Co-organiser Peter Leigh said that was more people than last year, which was a sign of the success of the event which having now run for two years will be repeated again in 2023.

Mr Leigh said the beach itself was quieter but the skinny dippers raised £3,000 with sponsorship received from Trev's Motors.

"Unfortunately due to having to move the date from the original date in September there was no one on the beach or in the cafe. But this year we raised £3000. £1000 for each of the three charities: Pink Ladies, Autism Guernsey and the British Heart Foundation," said Mr Leigh.

"Thank you all for your support especially Trevs continued sponsorship and all who took part on such a chilly day."

The third annual Skinny Dip will be held on 10 September 2023.
