There is just one patient still registered as 'active' for covid-19 in Guernsey, with no one testing positive in the Bailiwick for nearly four weeks now.

The latest statistics, which were released over the bank holiday weekend, showed another person had recovered from the potential fatal corona virus.

While 13 people were still waiting for their test results yesterday there had been no other changes of note in the data with no further deaths or positive test results, as the islands look set to 'eliminate' the virus within days.

Those patients deemed recovered from the virus would have had another nose and/or throat swab 14 days after their positive test result, or later, which proved their change in condition.

The only active case is not being treated in hospital - with none of the 252 people who had tested positive for the virus needing intensive care support.

The hospital is beginning to take in other patients for routine admissions again as explained by Hospital Director, Peter Rabey earlier this month.

The latest statistics are expected to be released this morning.

With people eagerly awaiting an update showing no active cases, Dr Nicola Brink and Deputy Gavin St Pier did urge people not to be worried if there is an increase in cases instead.

Public Health were also working on what the definition of 'eliminated' means in terms of covid-19.
