As the UK’s most popular cocktails are revealed for World Cocktail Day today, a local bartender confirms the results.
Ben’s Mobile Bar owner, Ben Hunter, said that the most requested cocktails in his experience are pornstar martinis and mojitos, which both ranked in the top five results.
Online retailer IWOOT analysed Google search data to determine the UK’s top ten favourite cocktails which saw pornstar martini’s top the list, followed by espresso martinis.

Mr Hunter has been bartending for twenty years and attended the European Bartender School in London.
“Cocktails can be difficult because you need your technique to be spot on to make them perfect. For example, if you don’t shake an espresso martini enough or don’t have the right amount of ice then you don’t get the foam on them,” he said.
“Customers have an absolute right to complain and ask for a refund or another drink if there is something off with a cocktail, so you really need to make sure you get them right first time.”

The term cocktail relating to beverages was coined in 19th century Britain to define drinks consisting of a spirit or spirits mixed with fruit juice or cream.
Mr Hunter set up his mobile bar business four years ago.
“I always used to avoid making cocktails and only started to make them around a year ago,” said Mr Hunter.
“I had a bit of a fear of making them because there is pressure to get them right, but once I started it gave me peace of mind and it quickly got easier.”

Mr Hunter had to memorise the recipes for eight cocktails for his course, which he passed with a score of 100%.
“One of the difficult things with cocktails when I am working is that you need to have both the speed and accuracy down,” he said.
“I am hired for a lot of weddings and people don’t want to be stood around waiting ages for their cocktail, but they also want it to be right, so it can be stressful.
“I have a cheat sheet with me which I tend to use for the first couple of cocktails until I get into the swing of it for the rest of the night.”
