Guernsey Airport has acknowledged that flights have been delayed because of staffing problems experienced by G4S which operates the security area at the terminal building.
A number of passengers experienced flight delays - either leaving Guernsey or flying in to the island - on Monday 30 July, as a result of delays going through the security scanners.
The security firm had recently been advertising for staff at the airport which would include those working on the scanners themselves or helping people progress through the security queues.
The advice from any airport and airline is always to give yourself plenty of time to go through security to ensure you are at the gate on time ahead of your scheduled flight departure, but on this occasion some flights were delayed because passengers who had checked in were being delayed through no fault of their own.

The Head of Aviation Services at Guernsey Airport; Ashley Nicholas, said:
“Guernsey Airport is apologising to passengers who had their flights delayed today, 30 July.
“G4S, which operates the security provisions at Guernsey Airport, is experiencing a temporary issue with staffing levels which led to some delay in processing passengers. We apologise for any inconvenience this is causing, however the safety of the travelling public is our highest priority and the procedures cannot be relaxed.”
Mr Nicholas echoed previously given advice to passengers and said allowing extra time would help during these times of high pressure at Guernsey Airport.
“We would ask passsengers due to travel this week to allow plenty of time to get through security, so any impact of delays in the security process can be kept to a mimimum.
“Guernsey Airport management is working hard with our security contractor to ensure delays at security are kept to a minimum. We appreciate and thank the travelling public and the airlines for their understanding.”
