'Sark Mini Fest' rises from festival ashes

Wednesday 10 April 2019

A 'mini festival' in Sark has been set up in place of the 2019 Sark Summer Festival, which has been cancelled.

The Sark Mini Fest has been arranged for the 9, 10 and 11 August, which is when the Summer Festival was due to take place.

Organisers of the Sark Summer Festival announced late last week that the event had been cancelled and that they hope it will return next year.

The smaller event will see bands and acoustic artists playing across the weekend at various different establishments. Some of the gigs will be ticketed but organisers are planning for the majority to be free of charge.

Plans are still materialising with more information yet to come and you can look out for further announcements on the Sark Mini Fest Facebook event page.

"We're disappointed about the Summer Festival but delighted that something has been arranged in its place," said Manager of Stocks Hotel Paul Armorgie. "From a community point of view it's a really good opportunity for people to come across and enjoy what Sark has to offer, with the added bonus of live music. In principal we are very supportive of it as we are generally of events in Sark."

All those who bought tickets for the Summer Festival will be refunded if they have not been already.

The Sark Folk Festival will still run as advertised from 5 to 7 July.
