Three road accidents over the weekend led to three people needing hospital treatment, adding to an already busy weekend for Guernsey's St John Ambulance Service.

The emergency service was also involved in a responding to a number of medical and trauma cases, along with arranging transfers to the airport for medivacs.

A spokesperson said staff and volunteers were also called out to deal with three road traffic collisions within just over 24 hours.

The first on Saturday, saw a collision involving a cyclist at the Crossways junction in the Vale.

Luckily an off-duty ambulance officer was first on the scene to provide immediate first aid. An ambulance was called and one patient was taken to the PEH for further treatment.

On Sunday morning, an emergency ambulance was called to the Chouet crossroads in the Vale after another cyclist was involved in an accident there.

They were assessed and treated at the scene before also being taken to hospital. At the same time as this incident was ongoing the ambulance service was also responding to three other medical calls.

Later on Sunday, ambulance crews were called to a single car collision at Route Isabelle, St Peter Port. The only occupant of the car was taken to the Emergency Department at the PEH after suffering minor injuries.
