UPDATED: Robbie Fowler event apparently cancelled again

Wednesday 29 May 2019

Organisers who had planned a meet and greet with ex-Liverpool player Robbie Fowler in Guernsey, have gone silent on the matter - for a third time.

The "Event with Legend" (sic) company had originally booked for the meet and greet to take place at the Duke of Richmond hotel in February. That was rearranged to take place on 31 May instead, before it was re-booked to take place at the Peninsula Hotel.

The company's Facebook page appears to show successful events featuring a range of different sporting celebrities in cities across the country. However the last minute date change in February announced on Facebook (since deleted) angered some ticket holders, with some even told to go to Guernsey Police with their concerns at the time as some staff members were not aware of the event at all.

Mr Fowler appears to have been undertaking regular appearances around the country in the past few months with the company.

Company branding, facebook page and website variably refers to the company as both Events With Legends and Event With Legend. The provided email address on the website - using both spellings - as well as a telephone number given to the Peninsular have been contacted by Express, with no response.

The event then reappeared on Facebook with not only a date change but a venue change also, this time to the Peninsula Hotel, with tickets costing £25-£50 each, however last week the hotel posted on Facebook to say that they too had been having trouble contacting the organisers.

A spokesperson said when they took the booking at the Peninsula they knew nothing of the similar issue at the Duke of Richmond:

"We made the initial reservation at the beginning of the year, we have tried constantly to get hold of them, for the last month but heard nothing.

"In terms of what it means for us, we are obviously disappointed for everyone that has booked tickets as we don’t want them to feel like we as a business have let them down. This is more important to us than the lost revenue on the function room.

"We haven’t sold any tickets ourselves, this has all been done through the Events with Legends company. I would suggest anyone with them would contact them directly for refunds as we have taken no money at all.

"We only found out about it recently from guests whom had bought tickets and had been struggling to get in touch. We have been advising clients thus far to get in touch with the company in the first instance."
