Regatta at Rocquaine today

Saturday 04 August 2018

2018's Rocquaine Regatta is today, and the organisers are hoping for much better weather than last year's.

The Regatta is a fun-filled day at Rocquaine Bay on the west coast of Guernsey.

People can expect the usual - yet unusual - boat races to take place throughout the day with fishing boats, small sailing boats and motor boats participating in casual yet highly competitive races, this all alongside the other expected fun with apple bobbing, wheelbarrow races, crab racing, wife carrying and more.

Pavement artists, the Guernsey Majorettes and live music will accompany participants, spectators and visitors all day and an evening barbecue will conclude a fantastic day of fun.

There will also be free entry to the Fort Grey Shipwreck Museum all day, so you can combine your family day out with some island history.

CT Plus are running extra services around the Regatta to hep people travel to and from the event, details for that can be found online.

Last year, the event was met with terrible weather conditions, but as what was possibly one of Europe's hottest weeks is concluding, the 2018 occasion should be enjoyed under the sun.
