Public drop-ins for next land reclamation plans

Two meetings are being held today and tomorrow, to let members of the public speak to the project team behind the planned extension of Longue Hougue South.

The States are looking to reclaim the bay by filing it with inert waste to make way for a new waste facility, and have just had an Environmental Impact Assessment completed detailing what risks the work would pose to the area.

The Assessment found many of the potential problems using the site could have could be mitigated, but if people still have concerns they can attend this afternoon's public drop-in meeting, and another tomorrow evening, to learn more about what the plans entail, and what the report said. 

A spokesperson for the States said: "An extension of the current land reclamation site at Longue Hougue is being considered, and an environmental impact assessment study has been conducted. 

"If you would like to find out more about the findings and next steps, please come along to one of our public drop-in sessions. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer any questions." 

Residents of the area around the Longue Hougue have all received invites to the meetings. They are taking place all afternoon today, on Friday 29 November, from 12:00 until 19:00, and tomorrow, on Saturday 30, from 09:00 until 16:00, in the foyer at Beau Sejour.
