An incoming traveller received a negative test result from their day 1 swab before testing positive for Covid-19 just days later.
The case was first announced on Saturday 29 May, with contact tracing continuing over the bank holiday weekend.
Health & Social Care says a "small number of people" have since been identified as close contacts of the positive case and have been placed into compulsory self-isolation. Other "low risk contacts" have been tested and will have further tests as a precaution.
"The positive case was an incoming traveller who arrived in the island from a Category 2 area and received a negative test result from their day 1 swab at the port," HSC confirmed.

"During the first week of passive follow-up, the person developed Covid-like symptoms and came forward for testing."
The risk of individuals travelling to the Bailiwick and becoming infected is "a clearly identified risk in the Bailiwick Blueprint", a spokesperson added. That document details the planned exit from lockdown and our move towards living responsibly with Covid-19.
The island is preparing to open its borders fully to those from the Common Travel Area - made up of the UK, Jersey, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland - on 1 July.
It remains the plan to introduce a traffic light system for all other jurisdictions on the same date.
