The States of Guernsey website has been offline for a total of 27 hours in March, according to Deputy Andy Cameron, who raised concerns about the “significant inconvenience” it has been to the public.
During today’s States debate he said “the website has been inaccessible for over 27 hours this month, with a staggering total number of 195 downtime incidents”.
He argued that the website serves vital community functions and “its stability is essential”.
“It is concerning that users have not been notified of these outages, neither prior or during these incidents. This lack of communication is unacceptable. [It] exacerbates the issue. Can the Chief Minister clarify that measures are being implemented to improve [the situation]?”

His concerns were raised after an extended statement by the President of Policy & Resources, Deputy Peter Ferbrache on his Committee’s mandate. “I met with the Head of the Public Service just last Friday, with the people from PwC who are doing the report,” he said, citing the independent report being draw up following a major outage in December.
“It should be with the States in the next four or five weeks, perhaps before, but as soon as possible and it's going to address both what happened in November/ December and what steps we can take going forward.
“We have constant blips and they're more than blips. And we've got to do better. What I'm told is that there's no way that... theStates of Guernsey can satisfactorily progress on 14 IT projects - but it should concentrate on the core services.”
And the issues continue. As an example, a new amendment to today’s debate was initially unable to be uploaded to the gov.gg website because of a technical issue.
