As the 'pause and review' of local schooling gathers pace, ESC is now asking for public opinion on which areas should be treated as priorities.
A public survey has been launched, asking the community to give their views on a number of topics including the optimal number of students at each school site, factors that should be taken into consideration during the transition, and the structure of sixth form education.
Similar surveys have already been completed by hundreds of staff members in education and ESC says the feedback will be taken into account when the committee considers each of the four secondary education models on the table.
This will see the current committee's preferred one school, two colleges model compared against:
Three 11-18 colleges
Two 11-16 colleges and an 11-18 college
Three 11-16 colleges and a separate sixth form centre
"During the early phases of the review, our focus has been on consulting with staff, particularly those that work in the mainstream secondary schools," said President of ESC Matt Fallaize.
Pictured: The feedback from the surveys will be considered by whoever succeeds the current Education, Sport & Culture Committee in October.
"A series of workshops will be held with groups of staff representing the four mainstream secondary schools in the first half of the autumn term where they will have detailed discussions about each of the models as we seek to develop the best version of each. This will ensure the States have all the information needed to make an informed decision on which model it considers best for Guernsey.
"But we also want to hear from other stakeholders so that their views can be taken into account in a meaningful way. The survey we are launching gives members of the community the opportunity to have their say.
"This is not about simply stating which of the models you like best. There will come a time - once all the analysis work has been done - when the whole community will be able to answer that question. However, this stage of the work is about helping us to develop the best possible version of each of the four models."
The public survey is available to complete HERE and will come to a close at 23:59 on 27 September.
The committee is planning to consult current secondary school students themselves next term, as well as staff from Les Voies and Les Murier.
