It's possible to have children's activities, live music, fireworks and even a surf n' turf BBQ as part of your celebrations this year without going into St Peter Port.
Events away from the seafront are being staged for all the family this year as part of the 74th Liberation Day Celebrations.
In the morning, the Cinema club 'Clameur Du Cinema' will be hosting a free screening of To Be or Not to Be at Candie Gardens which begins at 10:00.
"Start your Liberation Day with Clameur Du Cinéma's free screening of a classic WWII comedy starring Carole Lombard and Jack Benny. The Last Post will once again host a series of gigs at the St Andrews pub beginning at 11:00 with parking available at the Blanchelande and Candie fields. Music will come from Bean Jam, Djorinimo and Underdog plus more. There'll also be a rodeo bull, bunny tunnel and other family fun activities.
Family fun continues from 12:00-21:00 at Rangers FC in St Andrews with a BBQ planned as well as live music later on in the evening. The event poster promises "soft play area for toddlers, bouncy castle, pebble painting, bottle stalls and ice creams" as well as live music from 18:00 and fireworks from 21:00.

Older members of the community are encouraged to join in the day's festivities with a tea party being held at Gilbert's Diner at Le Grande Courtil assisted living home in St Martins.
The tea party will take place between 12:00-16:00.
