Team Guernsey have just a few hours left to prepare and relax ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games which get underway in Australia tomorrow.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to be held on Wednesday 4 April 2018 on Australia's Gold Coast.

Team Guernsey are all in Australia ahead of the Games where they have already attended an opening ceremony for the Athlete's Village.

All of the competitors from our Bailiwick have been busy preparing with some having to acclimatise to warmer temperatures than they are used to competing in. One of Guernsey's medal hopes, runner Cameron Chalmers, will feature in the 400m which he has been getting in some last minute training for.

Team Guernsey's Flag Bearer for the Games is Matthew Guille. The shooter is a previous silver medalist, and he is also getting in some practice ahead of the main competition. He and others will be competing on flood lit ranges and grounds.

Team Guernsey is made up of:

  • Aquatics - Miles Munro, Tom Hollingsworth and Tatiana Tostevin
  • Athletics - Alastair Chalmers, Cameron Chalmers, Sarah Mercier and Lee Merrien
  • Badminton - Stuart Hardy, Elena Johnson, Chloe Le Tissier and Jordan Trebert
  • Bowls - Lucy Beere, Matt Le Ber, Todd Priaulx and Matt Solway
