New recruit for Alzheimer's Association

Tuesday 07 May 2019

The Guernsey Alzheimer's Association has appointed its first salaried Manager.

Julie Thompson has taken up the role and plans to deliver high quality management for its hard-working team of volunteers.

Mrs Thompson (pictured above) has experience in medical services, customer relations and business. She will manage the centre's day-to-day affairs and take an active part in promotional activity.

The charity works in the community to care for the carers of loved ones living with dementia. Its centre at Delancey is designed to be a friendly environment, offering companionship from people who understand the situation and have often had similar experiences.

The GAA is now in its tenth year and aims to be recognised as "the place to find help for anyone with memory problems and indications of the onset of alzheimer's and other forms of dementia".

Working in partnership with the HSC Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, the association offers high level counselling and support.
