Move 8k a day in May to raise money for YC

A fundraising initiative has been launched by the Youth Commission to recognise the services it provided for 8,000 children and young people last year.

The public is being asked to put themselves in the shoes of Guernsey’s young people by registering to move 8k a day in May.

Over the course of 2020, the charity supported 8,000 youngsters in Guernsey and Alderney. The commission offers a range of services, including emotional health support and running weekly youth clubs.

"We are encouraging islanders to show their support for young people by getting active in May,” said CEO, Charlie Cox.

People who take part can move in a variety of ways, it doesn’t have to be just walking. Participants are being invited to run, swim or cycle. Children are also being encouraged to get involved.

Registration is £10 for adults, £5 for children and £50 for a team of six. You can get involved by emailing info@youthcommission.gg or calling 226099.
