Motorcyclist suffers "potentially serious" injuries

Wednesday 03 October 2018

An accident on Braye Road left a motorcyclist needing treatment to "potentially serious but not life threatening" injuries.

He was the only person injured in the collision last night although the drivers and passengers in the two cars involved were assessed at the scene.

A spokesperson for the St John Emergency Ambulance Service said they didn't require further treatment.

They said the ambulance service was called out just before 17:00 after the first 999 calls with eye witnesses saying two cars and a motorbike had been involved in an accident.

A "double crewed emergency ambulance and paramedic officer in a car" attended, along with Guernsey Police and Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service.

They gave the motorcyclist pain relief and he was treated at the scene before the decision was made to take him to the Emergency Department at the PEH.

The SJEAS spokesperson also thanked the other people who helped at the scene, during what was a busy day which saw the ambulance service called out 17 times within 24 hours.

"We would like to thank the members of the public and off duty clinicians who were on scene and looked after the patient before the ambulance arrived."

The accident meant the road was closed for almost three hours in total.
