More sailings cancelled as Condor falls foul of the weather

Thursday 20 September 2018

Condor Ferries said stormy weather in the north of the English Channel is to blame as it was forced to cancel more high speed sailings this week.

The ferry firm had already scrapped the Poole/Guernsey/Jersey sailings for Wednesday and Thursday and has also said that it can't sail that route on Friday or Sunday either.

"With predicted wind speeds and sea conditions outside of safe operating limits, the company has now cancelled services between Poole, Guernsey and Jersey this Friday, 21 September and Sunday 20 September. Passengers and vehicles are being re-routed onto alternative sailings where space is available," Condor said.

Captain Elwyn Dop, Condor’s Executive Director – Operations, said, "we appreciate that, with several days of disruption due to storms and high winds, everyone is very keen to know what travel options they have.

"Our operations and customer-facing teams are working relentlessly to update schedules and relay details to passengers taking into consideration the latest forecasts. We share their disappointment at the obvious inconvenience and uncertainty caused by this sustained period of stormy weather."

Additional staff have been drafted into Condor’s contact centre and port offices to contact passengers and help with their travel plans. All are being offered alternative sailings or a refund.

The services affected are the round trips to Guernsey and Jersey from Poole which are scheduled to depart at 09:15 on Friday and 10:30 on Sunday respectively.
