This Mac Gallienne says it's 'business as usual'

As it approaches 60 years in business, Ounsworth Decor wants to reassure customers it is 'business as usual' after a few cases of mistaken identity recently.

With a good local surname like Gallienne, Ounsworth Decor's Managing Director has recently been confused with another man of the same name, whose businesses has unfortunately run into some trouble.

Mac Gallienne Construction Ltd was recently declared insolvent, with legal arrangements in place for the liquidation of the firm. That is being handled by Ernst & Young.

That company was also linked with other individuals, who worked together on the redevelopment of some of the former Gabriel's shops, under the business name Fountain Street Developments Ltd. That firm is also in voluntary liquidation, with the administration being overseen by Grant Thornton.

The owner of Ounsworth Decor Ltd is now reaching out to past, present and future clients to assure them, the business is still going and that his 16 staff are all busy working in both the Commercial and Private sectors. 

Having been in business for 58 years, Mac Gallienne of Ounsworth Decor Ltd said, "many of our staff have been with us for decade, with one just having completed 50 years and not been without work for a single day."

Mr Gallienne said his company has recently worked on a number of high profile projects, some of which must remain confidential.

"We recently completed the Decoration to the Open Market Apartments at Havelet Waters," he said. "Currently we are working at La Plaiderie on large offices for a client.

"We also have several private contracts underway but unfortunately I can’t divulge where. We have also worked at the majority of the top end Open Market properties in Guernsey over the years."

Ounsworth Decor Ltd is a member of the Guernsey Building Trades Employers Association, which this week released statement on its behalf: 

"Mac Gallienne Construction Ltd who was recently declared insolvent was NOT a member of the GBTEA. 

"However, this is having an adverse impact on one of our members ‘Ounsworth Décor Ltd.

"Ounsworth Décor’s Director, Mac Gallienne has no connection whatsoever with Mac Gallienne Construction Ltd other than to share the same birth name. 

"Please be advised Ounsworth Décor Ltd is a solvent company and valid member of the GBTEA and we ask you to quell any rumours to the contrary."
