London representative sought as Guernsey Finance expands city links

Wednesday 10 January 2018

Guernsey Finance is planning to appoint a permanent London-based representative, as part of plans to build on its city connections.

The promotional agency for the island's finance industry said the move was in recognition of the crucial business relationship between the island and the capital, and its likely importance after Brexit.

“Guernsey’s finance sector has strong ties with the City of London, offering a complementary offshore business environment. We are looking for a London representative to help drive this relationship forward at this critical time,” said Guernsey Finance Chief Executive Dominic Wheatley.

Mr Wheatley said they are looking for candidates who have experience in business development and would already be working in, or have experience of working in London.

The island already has representation in China, Hong Kong and Dubai.

Guernsey Finance has also connected with TheCityUK, the industry-led body for UK-based financial and related professional services, and its Chief Executive, Miles Celic. Mr Celic will be the keynote speaker for the Guernsey Finance’s annual industry update this year.

Mr Celic will discuss his organisation’s work in the UK, how Guernsey’s financial services sector fits with its remit, and TheCityUK’s involvement in positioning London and the wider UK market for after Brexit.

Guernsey Finance is set to host its first London-based event of the year in early February.
