With 30 months until Guernsey hosts the 2021 Natwest International Island Games, more people have been appointed so they can play their part in ensuring the event is a huge success.
The 2021 Games will be played here with Dr Ian Gee, agreeing to be the event's Medical Advisor, while Andrew Deane from Channel Island Toys has been appointed as Merchandising Advisor.
Mr Deane has more than 25 years experience in the 'personalised garment industry' so was seen as the perfect choice for the next local Games.
“In this time I have worked with a large number of local companies looking to increase their corporate awareness with branded apparel,” he said. “I am hopeful this experience will be of help to the organising team as the Games will be a fantastic opportunity to promote the Island of Guernsey as a whole.”
He's already found a supplied for the 2021 Island Games, and will be working with Guernsey company Printed which has been appointed as Merchandising Partners.
“There will be a vast amount of merchandising and promotional materials required for the Guernsey 2021 Games, from volunteer t-shirts through to gifts for medal winners,” said Mr Deane. “We are very keen to keep as much as we can on the Island.
"When we visited Printed, we were extremely impressed with their facilities and the service they can offer to support the Games”.
Andy Fothergill of Printed said; “All of us at Printed are very proud to be appointed to provide merchandise to such a prestigious on-island event. Having supplied many sports teams and associations for a number of years, this appointment helps our business plan to consolidate our position as Guernsey’s printers of choice to move a step closer. Our heavy investment both in the latest technology and the best staff is paying dividends and we are delighted to be part of something really special.
"We are looking forward to working with a great team of people on a wide variety of products”.

Dr. Gee has been the Games Doctor for the Guernsey Island Games Association for more then 10 years, and has been to six Island Games which he said he has always enjoyed.
“I am inspired and impressed by the capabilities of the athletes as well as their determination. They do the Island proud and I am happy to be involved,” he said.
Dame Mary Perkins, Chair of the Guernsey Organising Committee, said that several members of the Committee have been involved with making these appointments and she was pleased with both Dr Gee and Mr Deane getting their new roles.
“The position of Medical Advisor has become increasingly important as the Games have grown in size and reputation,” said Dame Mary. “We are delighted that Dr. Ian Gee has agreed to take on this position for the Guernsey 2021 Games. Ian has been involved with the Island Games since the 2007 Games in Rhodes, and brings a wealth of experience to the position.”
