Is hydrogen the key to a greener future?

Monday 11 January 2021

The Guernsey Chamber of Commerce's next Sustainable Business Initiative event will explore the future of hydrogen-fuelled transport and energy, and why the Channel Islands are an "excellent" place to consider making the change.

SBI Co-founder and Member of Economic Development, Deputy Sasha Kazantzeva-Miller, will introduce presenter Sergey Kiselev, Head of Europe for sustainable aviation company Zero Avia.

The company aims to "accelerate the world's transition to sustainable aviation", and is currently refitting existing propeller aircraft with proprietary engines that facilitate zero-emission short haul trips of up to 500 miles.

Via a live stream link, Mr Kiselev will discuss how these hydrogen engines could be used to great advantage in Guernsey and Jersey, to create faster, safer and cleaner travel.

"Once this hydrogen ecosystem is in place, there would be possibilities for hydrogen automotive and marine fuel," said the Guernsey Chamber.

"We look forward to hearing more about ZeroAvia's journey and vision. After Sergey's talk, he will remain online to answer questions."

Anyone who is interested in aviation, innovation, sustainable travel or sustainable energy is welcome to attend the presentation at the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce on 14 January at 12:30.

Tickets are free for Chamber of Commerce Members, and are otherwise £10. Anyone who wishes to attend is asked to register, and advise on any dietary requirements, by emailing office@guernseychamber.com, to ensure enough catering is available. Tickets are available HERE.
