Guernsey Police welcome new recruit

Tuesday 23 April 2019

A new dog has joined the Guernsey Police team.

Lynx is a 21-month-old German Shepherd and will be working alongside PC Dan Thomas.

PC Thomas and Lynx the dog have recently returned from an "intense" 13-week training course in Guildford and are now trained to work together.

The new recruit will be used to assist in property finding and crowd control as well as missing persons searches, covering more areas much faster than a team of officers.

The island's Police Dog Section currently handles four other dogs; Iggy, Gully, Ledi and Ike. The section works closely with colleagues in the Guernsey Border Agency, Health and Social Care and the Prison Service as well as training with the Tactical Firearms Unit.
