Guernsey to have its own Channel Island Pride festivities

Sunday 18 July 2021

Jersey will be hosting the official Channel Island Pride this year, but the event will still be celebrated in Guernsey at the Performing Arts Centre.

Liberate will be hosting 'Pride at the Princess Royal' to champion and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in Guernsey, with a big screen showcasing the main event in Jersey.

The event is being held for those who can't make it to Jersey and promises to be a 'fun-filled' celebration of diversity and inclusion at Les Ozouets.

"Channel Islands Pride is a great way to bring the islands together and so, many take the opportunity to visit our sister islands while a Pride Parade is taking place," said the CEO of Liberate, Ellie Jones.

"We know that travelling off island for some, may be difficult this year, so wanted to both screen the Jersey event and have a celebration of our own."

Mourant is supporting the event as the official sponsor. "We're thrilled to be supporting CI Pride for the second consecutive year and sponsoring this fantastic community event in Guernsey for those unable to travel to Jersey for the Pride Parade," said Managing Partner, John Lewis.

"Pride at the Princess Royal' promises to be a fun and colourful event with both indoor and outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy."

The event is free to attend and will take place on Saturday 21 August. It'll include story-telling, face-painting, t-shirt making, and a 'colour cloud'.

The colour cloud is sponsored by KPMG and will see hundreds of bags of coloured powder thrown in the air.
