Developers have applied for planning permission to continue developing a site on the Coupee Lane, which has been a contentious site for more than a decade.
Planning permission for 16 flats was granted in 2013 and work began in earnest to develop the site. However, a subsequent review of the proposals stopped work and a re-assessment required DRP Architecture to submit a fresh application.
The plan now is to reduce the number of flats to 12, have exterior parking instead of underground, and retain two adjacent properties.
Approval for ten flats on the derelict site was obtained by developer Jeremy Rihoy back in 2011, followed by a further plan for 17 properties that was rejected at the time.

“The building will meet all requirements under policy GP9,” said DRP Architecture in a letter to Planning Services.
“It provides a building that is more energy efficient than it is replacing or that may have been achieved under the prior scheme. Likewise, the uniform steel frame and cladding allow for minimum waste and more sustainable construction practices.”
The consultation period has now started for the application and will end on 6 October. The time frame gives members of the public a chance to comment on the proposed development, with details of how ONLINE.
