Floral Guernsey has used a substantial donation by an anonymous benefactor to plant a border running from the entrance to Candie Gardens to the exit at St Julian’s Avenue.

Floral Guernsey celebrated 25 years of promoting floral events in Guernsey back in 2017. It is run mainly by volunteers and funded primarily by donations, and £25k was given to the group at the Silver Anniversary four years ago.

“We had to find a project to use it on,” said Caroline Alisette from Floral Guernsey.

“We planted this garden last year in collaboration with States Works, but we had to hold off opening it officially due to lockdown.”

“Our aim is to enhance the island,” said Ms Alisette. “We wanted to add colour here, because it was all quite overgrown and green.”

Floral Guernsey continues to bring the National RHS Britain in Bloom competition to the island, through its Floral Community Competition.
