Businesses in town are being asked to make their windows ‘scream Christmas’, as the St Peter Port Christmas Lights committee has announced a prize for the most festive fenestration on the High Street.
The 2020 Decorated Town Business Christmas Window Competition will officially begin in the second week of December, when a team of judges will walk all across town and score all of the decorated windows they come across.
The only criteria for the competition are a Christmas theme, and the winning window will simply be the one that receives the highest score.
Jax Robin, Chair of the St Peter Port Christmas Lights Committee, said the contest was a ‘great way’ for local businesses to add to Town’s festive feel.
“Decorating their windows and asking people to come and see them will encourage footfall. The more people who come to town, the more chance there is for them to purchase locally,” he explained.
“Donations from the community of Guernsey have ensured the lights for another year, and they want to come in and see them. To see the whole of town with festively decorated windows will only enhance the magic of the lights even more.
“Let’s create a great, festive, ‘Guernsey Together’ feel this Christmas.”
The competition winner will be presented with a silver trophy in the week of 13 December, before the final late-night shopping on Thursday 17.
