Photos showing the size of the crowd at yesterday's anti-GST rally have been shared with Express by people who were there.

The crowd has been estimated to have been anything between two and five thousand people.

The below video was taken from the balcony of the Express office at the Picquet House. The entire march from North Beach to the Market took more than 30 minutes.

Readers including Nicki Burge, Sarah Machon, Sam Reoch, Shelley Tansell, Rick Ozanne, Kate Collins and Anne Le Cheminant shared their own snapshots of the event with us.

Mrs Le Cheminant was involved in organising the event. She said:

"Thank you Rachel Presland and Lance Vaudin for all the work you’ve done organising this protest, initially contacting the police to get permission for this event. It was a pleasure to be a part of your team (in addition to Rachel and Lance the organisers were: Chris Machon; Karen Jolly; Dan Ogier and me).

"Thanks to the police, civil defense volunteers, and St John’s for being there to make sure it all went without a hitch.

"Thank you to those deputies who are against GST and who supported the organisers of this protest along the way. We really hope that other deputies will come around to your way of voting next week.

"Most of all thank you to to people power of Guernsey who made the time and effort to show the government how we feel about this tax. We hope to see you out in force again on Wednesday morning, 8:30am outside the Court Steps as the Deputies come in to debate this tax - show them again that we don’t want this and that we won’t vote for any deputies who support it.

"Lastly, and importantly, thank you, the media, who have covered this protest."

Mrs Le Cheminant, Mrs Presland, Mr Vaudin, Mr Machon, Mrs Jolly and Mr Ogier were leading yesterday's protest - followed by thousands of like minded members of the public.

Images capturing the event are below.
