Guernsey Waste has teamed up with 12 local restaurants to deliver the 2021 ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ calendar.
Chefs from a variety of chosen restaurants have shared 12 seasonal dishes, and tips to avoid food waste.
“We asked our chefs to come up with a seasonal dish for a particular month,” said Waste Prevention and Recycling Officer, Tina Norman-Ross, “using fresh, local as well as general store cupboard ingredients.”
Local households generate more than 3,000 tonnes of food waste every year and this could be costing each of us £800 annually in wasted food.

The message is especially important during the run-up to Christmas.
“We are in a really fortunate position of being able to look forward to the festive season as we would any other.”
“As we get ready for Christmas, we are encouraging islanders to reduce their waste in general over the next few weeks in the lead up to the New Year.”

The restaurants involved are; Christies group, Moores conservatory, Cooked, the Copenhagen, Les Douvres, Fleur du Jardin, Gusto, La Reunion, the Rockmount, Les Rocquettes, the Peninsula and the Slaughterhouse.
