A High Street premises occupied by Beghins for many years will be refit and upgraded ready for a new tenant.
The owner of the building, which has a 'to let' sign in its windows, has applied for planning permission to refurbish and upgrade the shop area.
The High Street premises became yet another empty retail unit in February when the long-standing shoe store closed suddenly after 177 years trading in the island.
After initially saying it would look to set up shop elsewhere, Beghins' owners Pavers announced its liquidation the following month, blaming landlords and the "challenging retail environment" for the shoe shop's dissolution.
