Financial support secures Emotional Health and Wellbeing position

Sunday 17 January 2021

A key position that helps the Youth Commission to provide one-to-one emotional health and wellbeing support to children and young people has been secured, following a bank's donation of tens of thousands of pounds.

The fundraising efforts of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and its employees will enable the organisation to continue employing an Emotional Health and Wellbeing Worker – a position vital to supporting youngsters in Guernsey.

“Some of our most vital services are funded by the local community to ensure that we can support children and families when they are in need of help," said Youth Commission CEO Charlie Cox.

"The Youth Commission is hugely grateful to RBC for their commitment and efforts in raising over £42,000 throughout 2020.”

The Emotional Health and Wellbeing team provides one-to-one support for children and young people, creating an opportunity for the service user to receive advice and necessary tools to process their experiences and struggles. As a charity, all costs are supported by grants and donations from the local community.

“Globally, RBC is committed to supporting youth and we are thrilled to be doing our part here in Guernsey with the Youth Commission," said RBC Wealth Management Managing Director Lisa Barnett.

"The amazing work the Youth Commission provides allows young people access to invaluable services that support their wellbeing and we are proud to work alongside them, particularly at such a challenging time.”

If you know of any young person who may need support from the Emotional Health Team, contact 756099 or email ‘info@youthcommission.gg’ where the team can discuss the situation with you.
