Feedback leads to fewer small spaces at Salerie car park

Friday 12 October 2018

There's good news for drivers of larger cars who park at Salerie Corner, as Traffic and Highway Services has decided to cut the number of new small car spaces it's putting there.

Following feedback as part of its consultation on plans to change some of the normal sized spaces to those for smaller cars, Traffic and Highway Services said it has "reduced the number of additional small car parking spaces planned."

In August, THS had said they wanted to put 19 extra small car parking spaces at the car park, but "as a result of comments highlighting the popularity of the parallel spaces on the eastern wall of the Salerie car park for drivers of large vehicles, it has been decided that the number of additional spaces originally proposed along the eastern wall of Salerie car park will be reduced by approximately 50%.

"The additional spaces proposed for south of “The Hump” will go ahead as planned."

Work will go ahead to paint the lines for the new small car parking spaces "as soon as scheduling and weather allows" which means for a short while those spaces will be temporarily unavailable.

Now the plans have been amended following feedback, there will be 13 additional small car parking spaces which will be 3.7m long and 2.1m wide.

There is a list of cars which fit in the small spaces and other information on the small parking scheme at gov.gg
