FAQ on IWV referendum campaigning released

Thursday 03 May 2018

The States’ Assembly & Constitution Committee has released a Q&A document answering the main questions revolving around planned campaign groups ahead of the Island Wide Voting referendum.

A public meeting was held for individuals or groups interested in applying to be in a ‘campaign group’ for one of the options last week, with the document put together following that.

The document will continue to be updated online at gov.gg/referendum as any further questions are asked so that everybody has access to the same information and guidance.

Deputy Peter Roffey, President of the States’ Assembly & Constitution Committee said: “The Committee stated at the public meeting that it would produce a rolling FAQ document to assist not just those considering applying to be as a campaign group but anyone interested in following the referendum process.

"Members of the public are reminded that they can e-mail the Lead Referendum Officer referendum@gov.gg if they want to express an interest in forming or joining a campaign group to represent an option. This can be published at gov.gg/referendum to encourage and enable individuals and groups to come together.”

Applications can be made online at gov.gg/referendum by either completing the online application form or downloading the word version of the application form.

The guidance notes “Applying to be a campaign group” and “Referendum expenses: Guidance for campaign groups” are available to download at www.gov.gg/referendum. The presentation given on Monday 16 April, 2018 is also available on the same page and a video of the presentation and Q&A session is available on facebook.com/govgg.

Anyone seeking further information regarding applying to be a campaign group, or the referendum more generally, should contact Ms E Dene, the Lead Referendum Officer, referendum@gov.gg or by telephone on 717284.
