Fallaize promises "co-operation and disclosure"

Thursday 08 August 2019

Education, Sport & Culture President Matt Fallaize has written to Scrutiny pledging to share his committee's knowledge about a controversial appointment in a "timely and unredacted way".

Deputy Fallaize has responded on behalf of his committee to Deputy Chris Green's request for assurances that ESC will participate fully if Scrutiny launch an investigation into the appointment of a new Head for Curriculum and Standards.

Questions have been asked about ESC's role in the appointment of Clare Sealy instead of a local candidate preferred by the majority of the interview panel.

Deputy Fallaize has responded to a letter from Scrutiny requesting more information to be shared with that committee.

"I write in relation to the letter entitled Appointment of the Head of Curriculum and Standards sent by the Scrutiny Management Committee to the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture on the 7 August 2019," Deputy Fallaize wrote to the Scrutiny Committee.

"On behalf of all members of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, I am pleased to confirm that, should your committee establish a review or inquiry into the circumstances relating to the above matter, we would fully co-operate and provide information and share our knowledge of the events in a timely and unredacted way, as envisaged in your letter.

"In the event that your committee establishes a review or inquiry, my committee trusts that it will be invited to make representations to inform the terms of reference which you will set in due course."
