A makeshift campsite in Cambridge Park has been dismantled by Guernsey Police after it was found to be empty.
Officers carried out a number of welfare checks to the park over the course of a few days last week.
While passers by had reported seeing a man using the tent, and the Town Constable confirmed that staff from the Douzaine had spoken with him, the tent was empty every time Guernsey Police visited.
A spokesman told Express that if the tent was empty when the next welfare check was carried out then it would be dismantled and recorded as lost property. That happened late last week.
It's understood that the man who had been living in the tent had chosen to do so as an alternative to accommodation offered at St Julian's House.
