Emergency landing and medivac at Alderney airport last night

Monday 11 June 2018

A private light aircraft diverted to Alderney Airport last night, after it reported engine problems.

It was on its way to France, but redirected to Alderney as it was the closest airport.

The Alderney Fire Service attended the airport, but the aircraft ended up landing safely at 19:10.

Later in the evening, in a separate incident, a person had to be medivaced from the airport to Guernsey, by Aurigny.

The airline flew the person from Alderney on one of the Dorniers that was stationed there at around 20:18, Colin Le Ray, Guernsey Airport, said.

The medivac caused some delays to Aurigny's scheduled flights in the morning, but the Dornier had returned to Alderney following the incident.
