'Digital ACE' returns!

Saturday 08 February 2020

With e-safety becoming a hot topic in day-to-day life, thousands of people are expected to head to Beau Sejour today to learn more about how they can stay safe online.

The Digital Greenhouse is holding its annual 'Digital ACE' event between 12:00 and 17:00, where businesses can present their technology tips and visitors can ask questions.

Some of the island's top tech and digital organisations have set up stalls, with interactive activities for both adults and children.

"As a parent of a young daughter myself, I'm also focussed on finding the right balance between our connected lives and our real lives," said Tamara O'Brien from JT, which will be showing off the latest Nintendo games console at the event.

"Increasingly, our schools encourage homework to be completed online and, of course, technology is firmly embedded into our education and school systems. So, this show is a great way to discover the latest technology, understand how to maintain that balance and hear the latest thinking on helping our children stay safe online."

The event ties in with National Safer Internet Day, which will be marked on Tuesday. It aims to raise awareness of e-safety and teach people how to learn, discover and be safe in the digital world.

A number of speakers will take to the stage throughout the day to share their ideas and tips with visitors:

There will also be lots of stalls to look around, including displays from C5 Alliance, the Youth Commission, the Model Flying Club, Guernsey Police and some local schools, among others.

Over flow parking will be available at Amherst school, but visitors are being encouraged to walk, cycle or catch a bus to the event if possible.

More information on the event is available here.
