Man sentenced for disorderly conduct in Town and at balcony gig

Friday 06 August 2021

A 25-year-old man has been handed a curfew and given an extended community service order for "deplorable" behaviour to police officers, just months after he was sentenced for punching another man in the face.

Jake Gallienne, 25, was sentenced earlier this year for assault and drug possession, after being found with 0.12g of cannabis on 31 August 2019.

Gallienne was sentenced on 10 February this year to 160 hours of community service and a 18 month probation order.

He was brought back before the courts after he committed two disorderly conduct offences in the space of 24 hours.

Police Officers were on patrol in Le Pollet during the early hours of Sunday 2 May 2021. They were called to Luna Bar, but were stopped in the doorway by Gallienne.

He was asked to move but refused to do so while swearing at the officers. Later that evening, he flicked a cigarette at one of the officers, culminating in a charge of disorderly conduct.

Later that day – the Sunday evening - Gallienne attended the Cobo balcony gig. He was seen kicking over a rubbish bin, smashing glass on the road. He was then found by a Police Officer, drunk, holding half a brick. This constituted the second charge of disorderly conduct.

Defence Advocate Liam Roffey said Gallienne had little recollection of either incident, but did argue that he meant no mal-intent by his actions in Luna.

“His language was aggressive, but his demeanour was not,” claimed Advocate Roffey.

The Bailiff, Richard McMahon, was unimpressed by the chain of events. “Your reaction to the Police was deplorable,” he said.

Gallienne was sentenced to a further 40 hours of community service for the disorderly conduct, to run consecutively to his original order.

His probation order was kept but amended, adding a curfew for the next three months.

He was also fined £600.
