Covid claims more events

Tuesday 26 May 2020

The corona virus pandemic has claimed more events, even though the Bailiwick looks close to eliminating the virus locally, with the 2020 Sark Fest now postponed.

With time ticking on many of the biggest events planned for this summer have already been cancelled or rescheduled with more following all the time.

The latest event to be postponed is the Sark Fest which was due to be held in the island in July.

Sark has benefited from hugely successful music festivals in recent years which have boosted the island's tourism season but this year's won't be happening as scheduled after the organisers said they had made "the difficult decision to postpone the Sarkfest 2020 event".

They hope to put the show on later in the year, pending Public Health advice.

Anyone with tickets for the event can keep them for the rescheduled dates, or contact the organisers for a refund.

Other events which have already been a victim of the covid-19 pandemic include the South and North Show - with the organisers of the West Show expected to make an announcement on their plans by the end of this month.

The Rocquaine Regatta has been postponed until September, while Alderney Week has been cancelled and will be replaced by a number of virtual events.
