Condor will not run high-speed sailings to the UK next month

Thursday 15 October 2020

Condor is cancelling its high speed sailings from the UK next month following the re-introduction of two week quarantine on arrivals into Guernsey, a substantial increase in cancellations and the reduced numbers of passengers.

The decision to suspend services between Poole, Jersey and Guernsey has been called a "consequence" of the effect that border restrictions are having on the demand for travel.

"When the States of Guernsey reclassified the southern regions of the UK to Group A last week, we saw a significant increase in cancellations and a similar reduction in new bookings," said Condor CEO Paul Luxon.

"We are not able to run ships at a fraction of normal capacity"

"The pandemic is also clearly impacting on passenger confidence generally as we enter the quieter autumn and winter periods."

"We have therefore reviewed our schedule, and sadly are left with no option but to cancel all Poole services in November as we are simply not able to run ships at a fraction of normal capacity."

Passengers travelling between the UK and the islands from Friday 6 November to Thursday 3 December are being switched to the Commodore Clipper service from Portsmouth.

The company has confirmed that a Poole to Guernsey sailing will run on Friday 4 December aimed at students returning home from UK universities and colleges. It is also planning to maintain passenger services over the festive period.
