Condor is optimistic that tourism will recover this summer, with the company's CEO saying the Channel Islands are primed to experience a boom in visiting Brits.
The company hopes that regular travel will be revived as Covid-19 vaccination programmes progress.
Condor’s CEO Paul Luxon said that despite the recent travel woes brought on by the pandemic, there are signs of encouragement.
He believes that Britons will favour short-haul holidays over long-distance travel this year, while pent-up demand could finally be released after many months of border restrictions.
"Everyone knows that the past few months have been challenging but we are encouraged looking ahead as holidaymakers clearly want to travel and make up for lost time but also to visit destinations closer to home," he said.
Pictured: Mr Luxon said the ferry company will be making an extra push to market itself to people across the UK.
"Both Guernsey and Jersey have handled the pandemic well and are viewed positively from outside the islands so we see this as a genuine opportunity, for instance, if Covid-19 vaccine permits or passports are allowed which then facilitate quarantine free travel."
He said the operator is working with both islands' promotional agencies, along with the local hospitality industries, on plans to "revitalise the visitor economy using traditional and online marketing."
"Sea travel is recognised as a safe and convenient way of getting around during the pandemic and another potential benefit for the Islands is the uncertainty regarding overseas travel post-Brexit," said Mr Luxon.
"We want to take advantage of UK consumers looking for a hassle-free holiday or break but not venturing too far."
