Arts to be celebrated at local festival

Friday 16 October 2020

St James will be a hub of creativity this weekend with the return of the Guernsey Community Arts Festival, which aims to celebrate the arts while encouraging people of all ages to try something new.

Individuals and groups will give talks, workshops, performances, activities and exhibitions over the course of the two days - all of which are free to attend.

All talks and performances will take place in the cafe, covering many different topics including inclusion within the arts, the business of art, and the role of culture and arts in healthcare.

  • Watch a live bust sculpting demo by Yasmin Mariess
  • Make a festive cracker with the WI and find out more about what the organisation gets up to
  • Make a spooky mask with Theresa McCafferty
  • Try out some weaving with GAC
  • Create a clay masterpiece to add to a community project with Iris & Dora
  • Poetry hour
  • Discover artworks featured in the Guernsey Art Network exhibition
  • Make tie dye t-shirts with the Youth Commission
  • Make activist art with Liberate

There's no need to book the activities, however booking for the workshops is encouraged, with many now sold out. To book a place for those that still have capacity, and to find out more about what's on offer, click HERE.
