Colourful running for charity

Sunday 19 May 2019

Runners will be getting colourful today in aid of Les Bourgs Hospice and Guernsey Mind.

The second Specsavers Colour Fun Run gets underway at 11:00 with registration opening for participants an hour earlier.

That gives the runners time to warm-up and throw their colourful powders before the starting pistol is fired.

Last held in 2017, this year's event gives those taking part the opportunity to choose between a 1km and 5km course around the grounds of Specsavers' support office at La Villiaze.

"After the success of our Colour Fun Run two years ago, when we raised more than £8,000 for charity, we were very keen to run this event again," said Specsavers Director of Group Services, Nick James. "It's an event which brings everyone together, helps you stay active and involves throwing a lot of coloured powder at each other."

Although tickets for the run have sold out, there will be plenty more to see and do including a penalty shoot-out with Guernsey FC, face-painting, magic, food, drinks and market stalls.

"We are all very pleased to be supporting these wonderful causes and look forward to welcoming everyone to this event," added Dame Mary Perkins.
