Code of Conduct complaint made

Monday 04 March 2019

A States member has made a Code of Conduct complaint against Deputy Neil Inder.

While the complainant has said they do not wish to comment, and they want to allow the Code of Conduct Panel to do their work, the Bailiff's Secretary has confirmed the complaint has been made.

The Code of Conduct Panel will now assess the complaint and if they feel it is of merit it will be investigated further.

At this stage it hasn't been confirmed by any of the parties what the complaint is about.

The Code of Conduct for members of the States of Guernsey covers a range of issues relating to deputies conduct.

As President of the States Assembly and Constitution Committee, Deputy Inder is currently responsible for a review of the Code of Conduct system. That review was launched by his predecessor, Deputy Peter Roffey, who resigned after Option A won the referendum on Island Wide Voting.

During last week's States meeting, Deputy Inder told the States that the review will be progressed later on this year.
