Money donated for the RNLI has been stolen from the visiting circus which was in Guernsey last week.
Guernsey Police have said an "unknown amount of money" was inside two collections boxes which were taken along with a money tin belonging to the circus.
Gandey's Circus was holding shows at Victoria Avenue throughout last week, with the final performance in Guernsey on Sunday 20 May. Throughout the busy run of shows the circus was collecting money to donate to the Guernsey branch of the RNLI.
During the last weekend of the troupe's visit to Guernsey the money collected for the charity was taken along with some money belonging to the circus itself.
Guernsey Police said it was taken "sometime between 01:30 and 09:00, Saturday 19 May 2018."
The money was being kept inside the Box Office at Gandey's Circus, Victoria Avenue, St Sampson, when the office was entered, by "unknown persons" who have "forced the padlock on the door, and stolen roughly £100 from a money tin, and also two RNLI Charity Buckets, both containing an unknown amount of cash donated by the public."
Guernsey Police said officers would like to speak to anyone who can provide further information.
Both of the buckets which have been taken have distinctive RNLI branding, and Guernsey Police have asked the public to "be vigilant should those responsible attempt to dispose of them" adding that any information can be passed onto PC 82 LE PAGE on 725111.
The circus had a dramatic week in Guernsey, with sell out shows to entertain during the visit. One of those shows contained more drama than planned however, when one of the performers fell from a rotating wheel in the sky. Gandey's later posted a video confirming the acrobat, Howie, was not seriously injured and he returned to the showground to meet guests ahead of his expected return to performing.
The circus is now in Jersey for a week.
