Assessments at the Guernsey Institute College of Further Education will be declared later this year, following a change in how they are announced.
Historically, the College of FE would declare provisional pass rates for some students on the same day as students get their A-Level results. A new approach has allowed the school to “proudly acknowledge all our students' achievements,” instead, according to the Principal of the school.
Thousands of students in the Bailiwick received their A-Levels yesterday [18 August] and the A Level pass rate for 2022 was 99.3%. Technical and Vocational students were said to have received great personal results too, but specific results won’t be released until October.
“The approach to the assessment declaration is in line with how the English vocational and technical qualifications are reported,” said Principal, Louise Misselke.
“In England, today [18 August] is mainly about A-level qualification pass rates, although some of the new T level qualifications are also being declared...
“For Further Education, today is all about our individual student success.”

The changed approach to assessment declarations means that the College can acknowledge all its students’ achievements, instead of declaring provisional pass rates for only some of them.
“This approach has improved our ability to measure our performance against English standards, and is in line with the education assessment declaration policy,” continued Ms Misselke.
“We will have a complete set of types of qualifications and student achievement across our college offer by the end of October.”

Commenting on yesterday’s [18 August] results, the President of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, said: "I am privileged to once again be congratulating this year’s Post-16 students on their Level 3 exam results.
“They have faced the typical challenges all students face, on top of the disruption caused by the pandemic, and in the face of that they have shown tenacity and overcome those challenges.
“I, and the rest of the Committee, would like to offer my congratulations to all of the staff who have supported the students, and the students themselves for their very hard work. We wish them all the very best in the future."
