Health and Social Care are looking for nominations for the annual Bailiwick Carer, Nurse and Midwife of the Year Awards, 2018.

The winners will be announced at a dedicated ceremony which will take place on international nurses day; 10 May 2018, where all carers, nurses and midwives will be celebrated.

With roles so varied and such a vast skillset, nursing in 2018 is described as "a modern and dynamic profession."

Professor Juliet Beal, Chief Nurse said: "This is the third year HSC has run these awards. Everyday carers, nurses and midwives around the world go the extra mile for their patients. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the outstanding work carried out by carers, nurses and midwives in the Bailiwick."

Last year the awards ceremony was held in the Emma Ferbrache Room and also coincided with International Nurses Day.

Claudine Paluch, received the award for midwife of the year; Carol Winder, who works at The Royal Connaught Care Home in Alderney, won the carer of the year award and Ann Kavanagh, who had been a nurse since 1981, took home the award for nursing.

Nominations are welcome from patients, family and staff members. If you know someone who deserves to be recognised for their outstanding contribution and care then nomination forms are available at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, from community nurses or can be downloaded here.

Nominations should be returned by post to Emma Walton, HSC, Le Vauquiedor Office, St Andrews, Guernsey, GY6 8TW or by email: emma.walton@gov.gg by 13 April 2018.
