Bowls and swimming campaigns continue at CWG

After a mixed start to the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Team Guernsey's focus will be on the bowling green and in the swimming pool on Day Two.

World Cup Gold Medalist Lucy Beere had begun her singles campaign with a win and a loss at the Broadbeach Club, being defeated 21-15 by Laura Daniels of Wales but in her second round robin match she defeated Rachel Macdonald of Jersey 21-12. In the evening session, the men’s pairs team of lead Matt Solway and skip Matt Le Ber were narrowly defeated 16-14 by Canada.

Both are back in action on Friday 6 April at the Gold Coast Games though, with Ms Beere facing Caroline Brown of Scotland in the singles at 00:00 BST, before Guernsey take on Malta in the men's pairs at 07:00 BST and the men will then play host country Australia at 10:00.

After Tom Hollingsworth's good start in the swimming pool, reaching the semi finals of the 100m backstroke, he swam again later on day one where he came 8th in semi final one, meaning he won't progress any further. However he and Miles Munro are both swimming again for Guernsey on Saturday, when they compete in the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle respectively.

Before then, Tatiana Tostevin will be in action, swimming in the women's 50m freestyle heats at 01.50 BST on Day Two of the action. She will also swim in the women's 100m backstroke at 02:18 BST.
