A large area remains cordoned off after a greenhouse was left structurally damaged during a large fire.

The vinery site on Rue des Pointes St Andrews went up in flames on Sunday evening.

Six separate 999 calls were made with the emergency services rushing to the scene where they were met with thick black smoke and flames.

The initial call was made at around 20:00 and it was nearly 22:00 before the fire was declared out. Firefighters remained on the scene for some time to ensure the area was safe, with the final crew members leaving shortly after 23:00.

No one is believed to have been hurt in the fire.

A spokesperson for the emergency services said;

"The cause for the fire is unknown at this time but Guernsey Fire & Rescue have cordoned off a large area of the site due to structural damage to the greenhouse itself."

No further information is expected to be released yet.
